Children Killing Fish in Feeder Streams

A friendly reminder to Andover Lake Residents: According to the DEP Angler’s Guide (pg. 4) ALL rivers and streams in CT are closed to fishing from March 1 to the opening day of Fishing Season . Although Andover Lake has no “closed season” and therefore is open to fishing year-round, the feeder streams do have a closed season. This means the taking of any fish from these streams during the “closed season” is illegal. For violation of the “closed season” regulation (pg. 8) there is a $154 per count fine. Please help spread the word that spearing, killing or taking the White Suckers from Andover Lake feeder streams is illegal before opening day. It has been reported that children are killing fish in the feeder streams which enter Andover Lake. Clearly this is a illegal activity and should be stopped by anyone who observes such activity. Additionally I recommend taking names and turning those names over to our resident trooper for follow up with their parents. Wildlife is everyones responsibility.

Clearly we should be prosecuting our evil, deviant children to the fullest extent of the law. Do these children not realize the environmental damage they are causing by their innocent, childlike actions? Hit these kids where it hurts - their elmo and mickey mouse piggybanks. Break those suckers open and pay out that $154 fine with their hard earned tooth fairy money. And if they don't have enough in that little elmo or mickey mouse piggybank, just get out the ol' pliers and yank some more teeth out. Leaving those children horribly disfigured through their formative years, self esteem crushed as they are ridiculed by their friends, will be a constant reminder of the environmental damage they have caused. Every time I see a child splashing in the water at the beach, walking by my blanket and getting sand on it, or throwing pebbles into the water (which is CLEARLY against our ALPOA rules, what can these darn three year olds NOT read!?), I become infuriated and choose to immediately report those children to our state troopers. Without our silly, frivolous ALPOA bylaws, our lake surely would turn into a madhouse overrun by unsupervised, thoughtless, reckless little children, just like the Lord of the Flies. Can you even imagine a lawless Andover Lake where these evil children spend their summer vacations riding their bicycles on unapproved cement walkways that are only zoned for foot traffic, or catching butterflies and pulling the wings off, or urinating in the water and not the approved outhouse areas? That, my friend, is a world I do not want to live in. I know as a child I never, ever did any of those things and we must fight to keep them from happening at our precious lake.
